BACA Art Centre is pleased to announce “From the Heart”, an exhibition that is part of BACA Art Centre’s community engagement program, that will run from June 11th until June 15th. From the Heart is an exhibition of the artworks made by the children of Beijing Chaoyang Experimental Primary School Xinyuanli Branch. This school is notable for its experimental approach to education, in which it aims to use art as a way to integrate children with learning difficulties into the same classes as other children.
“From the Heart – BACA Art Centre Community Engagement Exhibition” showcases the paintings created by the children of the special education classes of this school. In addition to the exhibition, the BACA Art Centre will provide creative arts classes for these children on June 14th, exploring such topics as innovation, openness and inclusivity in art education.
In the artworks displayed here, many of the children have drawn images that relate to the natural world, although others have drawn from other kinds of experiences (such as Chinese New Year), or made pieces from their imagination. Some of the children draw in a graphic or illustrative style; others painting in a more abstract or expressive fashion. Regardless of their theme or style, all of the children have been able to express something of their individuality and create their own kind of visual expression through painting and drawing.
